Many years ago, a candy
maker wanted to make a candy
that symbolized the true meaning
of Christmas-Jesus.
The hard candy was shaped like
a "J" to represent Jesus name.
The color white stands for the pureness of Jesus. The color red
represents the blood
Jesus shed for us.

I've also heard it looks like a shepherd's staff to remind us that Jesus is our shepherd, always there to guide us and that the hardness reminds us that he is our solid rock
I didn't know this and that is so cool. I'm going to make sure I tell this story to my kids - thanks. See ya. Kellan
No way, I never heard this! Smart=you!
Wow, I actually remember learning this in bible school when I was young. I still love that story.
Knowing this and the fact that it is shaped like a shepherd's staff, the Lord is our Shepherd, makes me appreciate this holiday candy more :) !!
love this post...and the others...first time at your blog.
