Fruity Play Dough

I found this great recipe for fruity smelling Play Dough on the blog, "The Mother Load".

It smells good and super easy to make. I made it right after I saw the recipe.

Here is the recipe:

Fruity Play Dough

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 package Kool-Aid (any flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
(the original recipe called for one cup of boiling water, but I found it made the dough too loose- aim for 3/4 cup and add more if needed)

Mix all dry ingredients in bowl then oil, then pour boiling water in and mix thoroughly. Wrap in cellophane or air tight container and store in fridge. The play dough should last a few months.

U.F.O. and Alien Craft

For the U.F.O. you will need: Styrofoam or paper bowls (paper is better), paint, brush, scissors, glue and decorations.

Cut an opening in the bowl.

Paint bowls. I would do this first, even though the pictures do not show this.

Allow paint to dry.

Glue bowls together.

Decorate.

To make aliens you will need: Pom - poms (2 sizes), pipe cleaners, foam sheet or felt or construction paper for the feet, glue, scissors. and wiggly eyes.

Cut out feet and glue on to the bottom of the bigger pom-pom. Cut pipe cleaners. Glue on and decorate.

Fall Apple Craft

I thought this would be a good Autumn craft. Our red was a little too red, so I would suggest using a darker red to keep it from looking like a cherry.

You will need: 3 inch foam ball, craft stick, red paint, wiggly eyes, small pom-pom for the nose, pipe stem cleaner, green paper and scissors.

Paint foam ball. Allow to dry.

Push in craft stick. Cut out a leaf shape from the green paper.

Glue on leaf and face.

I Would Like Your Opinion !!!!!

My first day as a teacher is soon approaching, I am very excited, but also a little nervous. I know I have a huge responsibility of taking care of other's precious babies. But because these children are 2, I feel like I have an even bigger responsibility. This may be the first time for some parents leaving there children in someone's care they do not know.

With that being said, I would like to know what your children's teachers have done to make you feel more comfortable about leaving them in their care. Would you like daily notes ? Phone calls? How often? If you kids have not gone to preschool, you can also let me know what you would expect.
Did the teacher do anything special with the children when the parent's were leaving? I know the first few weeks are going to be difficult for some kids.

I would also love to hear about any good experiences you have had with you kid's teacher's.

I can wait to hear what you have to say.

Easy Tambourines

On the last day of summer before school starts we made these tambourines. My kids love to paint, so they enjoyed making these.
You will need: sturdy paper plates, paints (or anything to decorate the plates), brushes, seeds, beans or uncooked pasta, ribbons and glue (I used a hot glue gun.)

Paint or decorate the bottom of the 2 plates.

Fill the inside with seeds or pasta.
Glue on ribbons.
Glue the other plate on top of the first.

My Exciting News (at least for me)

My exciting news is I got a job teaching at a Preschool. I will be teaching a 2 year old class 2 days a week, and assisting in a 3 years old class 1 day a week. I am so excited,I feel this job is what I was meant to do (after being a Mom). Three of my kids will be in elementary school and Cheyanne will be at this Preschool (I will be in her class when I am with the 3 years old).

I have been drawing and cutting my fingers off.
These are pictures of my hard labor. I have just loved doing it.

This is right outside my door. "We're Beary Glad To See You"

I just love these Teddys.

This one of my Bulletin Boards: " Friendships Blossom Here"

This is my favorite: We're So Hoppy to See You"

Aren't these frogs too cute?

This is the Artist's Corner. Kids are going to put up any art work they would like to place here, they are even welcome to bring pictures they create from home.

This is Alphie the Inch Worm:

I wish I could say I got these ideas from my head but I found them in various places. I am sooo excited to get started.
I am always looking for great ideas for Preschool, so any things you have done with your child or anything they have done at school that you would like to share, would be great. Maybe be you could tell me what is the cutest project or activity your kids have done at school.
