Pre School Valentine's Game

This is a simple game to teaching counting and number recognition with a Valentine's theme.
Plus it is something to do with all those heart shaped message candies.

To make this game we used:
Half a sheet of poster board, heart shaped cookie cutter, red sharpie and candy hearts.

To decorate the game I cut out hearts from construction paper.

Trace the cookie cutter to make 10 hearts. Write numbers in the hearts.

Have your child put the same number of candies as the heart says.

Love this! It will be part of our Valentine's festivities. We live in New Orleans ... would love to see if you've ever come up with anything to celebrate Mardi Gras. :)

Ha ha ha! This would be a big hit- especially if I let my girlies eat the candies afterwards. :)

This is cute and pretty. If I let Jack eat the candy it would probably motivate him to count well. No number skipping.

This is such a cute idea and my son is the perfect age for this game. I also like the sewing idea in the last post. He would love that, too! Thanks for letting me know you stopped by my blog! You have lots of great ideas!!

Great counting project. I"m totally doing this idea soon with my son. Yesterday we did something similar but with stickers. He got up to 14 stickers in each space before peetering out on me. I was impressed and loved watching him concentrate.

Aren't candy hearts fun to learn with? We did measurement with our candy hearts! I like your idea for Preschoolers.

Great way to integrate counting practice with the holiday! I love it! You can work subtraction in there too as the candies get eaten?
