This is one of my kids favorite summer treats to make. It is quick and yummy.

You need: Large resealable plastic bag, small resealable plastic bag, rock salt, ice and a drink. For a drink you can use orange juice, lemonade or Kool aid.

Place the ice (about 2 cups) in the large bag.

Add rock salt ( about 1/3 cup) to the ice.

Pour the juice in small bag a seal tightly. Put the small bag into the larger bag and seal the large bag.
Now shake the bags until the juice turns into a slushie.

Enjoy with a spoon or a straw.

Ooooo- that sounds SO refreshing and fun! I've made ice cream in this fashion, but never a slush!
Looks yummy! My toddler would probably love this :)
This looks yummy and totally cool!!
Ok, at the risk of sounding silly I have a question. Having never made this before I wonder- the ice and salt mixture never touch the juice?
How fun! Got to try this!
I love it and trust me my son will too. Thanks a ton
Oh I'm so going to try this...how easy and yummy!!
Thanks for sharing. We made this and blogged about it with a link back to you! My kids loved it!

Creative and Curious Kids!
looks yummy, my kids will love it..but i am with your other reader...if the juice is in the small bag inside the large bag, how does the juice mix with the ice? am i missing something??
thanks!
The ice freezes the juice, and the juice is the slushie. The ice in the large bag does not go into the drink, it is only used to freeze the juice.
Hi, I have never heard of this method before... we call them slurpees over here - big grin.
I just usually put icecubes in the blender crush them - and then add about a 1/4 cup of cordial/juice, to the icecubes and then blend a few moments more and pour slushie into cups... very popular in our house - smile...
Hi! This is the same method that I used to make ice cream with! It's very enjoyable when you do it with someone. Though tt's a cold method, you feel satisfied when it's really to be eaten!
we did this today. to help i wrapped the bags in a towel and that seemed to make it slush up faster.
So much fun. I am looking for activities for a summer camp I am teaching and this has must moved to the top of the list!
