Christmas Crown

Can you believe this crown is make from a Coke bottle. I just love this crown, it is so pretty.

It is important that it is a Coke bottle because of the shape.

I cut the crown from near the bottom of the bottle. Then cut off the very bottom, with the feet.

Caity painted the crown gold and then put a coat of yellow or red or green over that. While it was still wet she sprinkled on glitter.

Then glue the stars to the points of the crown. Allow to dry.

Christmas Bird Ornament

I saw this bird ornament in a Crate and Barrel catalog and thought I could make that.
And I did.

I started by spray painting a pine cone and a small Styrofoam ball. While still wet, I sprinkled the pine cone with red glitter. Allow time to dry.

I glued the ball to the pine cone to make a head.
With felt I made the eye, beak, wings and tail feather.
I made the feet with chenille stems.

The picture does not show how pretty it turned out.

Doggie Christmas Ornaments

My dog James just turned 12 years old. He is getting slow in his old age and I do not know how long he will be with us. He is a big part of our family and I thought it would be nice to have a Christmas ornament to remind us of him for many Christmas' to come.
We also made another one for our dog Bob.

We made the ornaments with salt dough.
The recipe:

Salt dough recipe

- 1 cup of salt
- 2 cups of flour
3/4 to 1 cup of lukewarm water

You can air dry them or place them in a 200 degree oven. Time just depends on the ornament. Ours took a long time.
The kids love salt dough. They made all sorts of ornaments with the cookie cutters.

Here are the dogs prints pre baked. Do not forget to make the holes at the top for the ribbons to hang.
Love you James !!!!

Jesse Tree- THE TREE-Post #6

This is the final post on the Jesse Tree. I have loved how this project has turned out and can not wait until December 1st to start doing this with my family. I think this will become one of our family's favorite Christmas traditions.

Go here for Post 1, Post 2, Post 3, Post 4, Post 5.

Here is the tree we made. My husband cut a triangle out of a piece of wood. I stained it and let it dry.

Then to hook the ornaments, I glued 2 buttons together. One large than the other.
Next, I glue the buttons on to the wood with the small buttons up against the wood.

If you do not want to make a tree, a regular Christmas tree will look great also.

Here is another idea for a tree too, HERE.
