Paper Doggies

Caity was bored today at work, so we had to do a craft from office supplies. We made these 2 paper doggies.

For the first doggie we used paper, scissors and markers.

First you have to have a square piece of paper.

Fold paper over to make a triangle and cut off excess paper.

Fold over the corners to make the ears.

Now decorate.

For the second dog we used and envelope, post it notes, markers and glue.

Fold the envelope in half. Now decorate.

Easy Recipes

Now that I am working full time and still have to get te kids to their activities, I need all the help I can get to make easy, inexpensive and quick dinners. Here are 2 recipes that are fairly quick and have become some of my family's favorite meals.

Mexican Chicken and Rice Love this recipe !
Prep/total time 30 minutes
Serves: 4

1lb. boneless skinlesschicken breast, cut into 1/2 in strips
2 Tbsp. butter
1- 3/4 cups salsa (I use fresh refrigerated salsa)
1 envelope (5.4 oz) Mexican Style Rice
1 can (2 1/4 oz) ripe olives, drained (I skip this)
2 Tbsp lime juice
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup (8oz) sour cream
1 medium avocado, peeled and cubed
1 medium tomato, chopped

In a large skillet, brown chicken in butter, Stir in salsa, rice mix, olives and limejuice.Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until rice is tender.

Sprinkle with cheese. Serve with sour cream, avacado and tomoato. We make soft tacos with this recipe.

If I am lucky I get a chance to fix it with this jalapeno popper dip recipe. Perfect Dinner !

Beef Stroganoff

I follow the recipe on the back of the McCormick Beef Stroganoff Sauce Mix except I use ground beef instead of beef sirloin. I also add onions, mushroom and a little garlic when browning the beef.
I serve with rice and a salad . YUM!!!

Flip Flop Craft

Here is one of my favorite crafts to get us ready for the summer.

I was visiting Anne's blog, Teaching Two, she did an adorable Flip Flop project, and it made me think of one we did a few years ago. My kids had so much fun doing it then, I thought we would do it again.

We made Flip Flops from empty cereal boxes (or thin cardboard).

I know they are not really made for wearing, but they are cute and fun to make.

We used: Cereal box, scissors, paint, brushes, beads, chenille stem and hot glue gun (or craft glue).

I traced my kid's flip flops on the cereal box, and cut them out.

Paint and decorate the flip flops.

Allow to dry.

Poke a hole where the toe grip on the flip flop would be. Place two chenille stems through the hole and fold over on the underside.

Thread beads on to the chenille stems.

Poke 2 holes in each flip flop between the middle and back of the flip flop to thread the chenille stem through.

You may need to make some adjustments to make sure they fit. I would not cut the chenille stems until they are fitted to your child's foot.

Glue underside to hold chenille stems in place.

Great Mother's Day

On Mother's Day I woke up to breakfast in bed (Special K- chocolate) made by Cheyanne and Colton.

Then I got these great cards.
I am cooler than Dad, that's right Colton. He then told his dad he had to say that because it is Mother's Day. He really know how to play both sides.

On Mother's Day we then went hiking. It was a beautiful day.

Sunday School Puppies

Today I filled in for Caity's Sunday school teacher. We made these cute little puppies. How do puppies fit into the bible you ask? Well, I was trying to convey that God is man's best friend. He is always there for us, in the good times and the bad times. He will always listen to us and be glad to see us, just like puppies.
I think the kids has fun making them and got the point too.
We also talk about things that have happened in our lives and how God was there for us.

They did a great job on the puppies.

The directions are here.

My kids made these while I was at the store today. The second one looks like a kitten to me.

Here is Cody today at church, I was so proud of him. He looks so handsome.
