Super Easy Bird Feeder for the Winter

Image
I just saw this great idea for a Bird Feeder. You will need: Bagel, peanut butter, birdseed and twine or ribbon. Instructions: 1.Tie a piece of twine around a bagel. 2. Coat the bagel with peanut butter and roll it in bird seed. 3. Hang the bagel outside and watch the birds. I can not wait to try this idea.

Chey's First Blog Post

Image
We have been so busy and not any time for crafting.Cheyanne has been asking me to make a craft and I seem to always have something else to do (bad mom award comig soon). So she had to take matters in her own hands. She came up with her own craft, got her own supplies (yes the glue gun, another bad mom award coming). She made her own snowman and even took her own pics, except the last one. Here is Chey's snowman: She used friut cups, ribbon, glue gun, wiggly eyes and construction paper. Glued them all together. She is so proud and so am I.

Snowman Gift Wrap

Image
Cody has to take a gift to class for his Christmas party, they are playing Dirty Santa. I though I would wrap his gift in a fun and festive way. The gift is a large chocolate bar and gum. I thought 5 th grade boys and girls may like that, there was a $5 limit on the present. I used: wrapping paper markers, construction paper, yarn, pom-pom, tape, glue and scissors. Wrap the present white side out. Wrap the top half with the construction paper for the hat. Draw on the face with markers and glue on the pom-pom. Tie the yarn around the neck and the hat. I love snowmen, and I think this is an adorable way to decorate a present.

CD Snowflakes

Image
Caity made these snowflake ornaments. They turned out so pretty. We used old Cd's, coffee filters, sharpies, scissors and glue. If you have spray glue that would work great for this project. Fold the coffee filter and cut to make a snowflake. Glue the coffee filter to the CD. Color the holes with the Sharpies.

Spoon Angel and Snowman

Image
I am back to using spoons again. I thought these were easy Christmas crafts to do with the kids. It is also a good craft because you can use any materials already at your house to decorate them. I also thought the angels would make a great Sunday school craft. Here is the basic angel, now use whatever you have to decorate. I did use a cut muffin cup for the top of the dress but regular paper would work just as well.

Easy Wooden Snowmen

Image
I know it was 61 degrees today, but I was in the mood to make some snowmen. By no means am I ready for the cold weather. I am just out of Thanksgiving ideas (I do have 63 Thanksgiving posts, go here ), so I thought I would move on to winter. Cheyanne and I had a great time being BFF's today (she said) because we spent the afternoon just her and I having fun together. That is what BFF's do. We started with pieces of wood cut into rectangles and painted white. Then we pulled out a whole bunch of supplies: glue scissors, felt, ribbon, buttons, sequins, paint, wiggly eyes, pom-poms and whatever else we could find. Then we decorated. I think they are beautiful and we had a great time being BFF's.

Marshmallow Snowman

Here is another cute recipe the kids at preschool did. You need: Cookie- for the base 2 marshmallows- body and hat frosting Hersey kiss-hat mini M&M's-eyes candy corn- nose They used a ribbon for the scarf but you could use a fruit roll up

Oreo Penguin

Image
Cheyanne' s preschool class made these cute penguins, I thought I would share the idea with you. They used: 2 Oreo's, frosting, 2 chocolate chips and 3 candy corns. 1. Twist cookies apart. 2. Attach head. 3. Add feet with frosting. 4. Add eyes and beak with frosting. 5. Break top of cookie in half and attach for wings. 6. Now eat.

Shaving Cream Snowflakes

Image
Here is a fun craft that can also clean your counter tops. Playing with shaving cream is one of Cheyanne's favorite things to do. We used: Paper, shaving cream, blue food coloring, scissors and scraper. Spray shaving cream on a counter. Add a few drops of food coloring. Combine the food coloring and shaving cream with hands. Do not mix too much, keep a swirl look to the shaving cream. Press the paper on to the shaving cream. Now with a scraper or an object with a flat surface (large craft stick), and scrape the shaving cream off the paper. Allow to dry. Fold the paper and cut out shapes to create a snowflake.

Q-tip Snowflake

Image
Here is an easy way to make a snowflake, even little fingers can make this one. We used: wax paper cut into a circle ( try to make the circle wider than 2 Q-tips across), Q-tips, glue and glitter. Put a glob of glue in the center. Dip the tips into the glue. Place the Q tips in a spoke design. Finish by adding glitter.
