Ramblings of a Crazy Woman

We have been so busy, this is our last week of swim team, maybe there will be sometime to get back to crafting with the kids. I love this simple project, so I thought I would repost it. Cheyanne and I made these simple bracelets today. While we were making these I thought, they would make a good project for birthday parties. We used: Buttons, ribbon, scissors and craft glue. Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go around the wrist and tie a knot. Pick out the buttons you would like to use, and glue them on to the ribbon. Allow the glue to dry.

This is such an easy apple tree project. Cheyanne love doing it because it involved painting and finger printing. We used: A paper plate, water colors and paint brush, red paint and scissors. Cut the side out of the paper plate to look like a tree. Paint the trunk brown and the top of the tree green. Next dip your finger into the red paint and dot the top of the plate to make the apples.

Today we made this great windsock. We used a picture of an angel with the heading,"Angels Are Watching Over Me." Materials used: Streamers or tissue paper, glue stick, scissors,stapler,a chenille stem, and a picture printed longways. Glue the streamer to the back of the paper along the bottom longways. Form a tube with the paper and staple. Poke chenille stem through the top of the paper on each side for the hanger.

Today we finally did a craft. This was a fun project for Cheyanne to do, painting with marshmallows. We used marshmallows, paint, paper and a marker. Draw a "M" and fill it in with marshmallow prints. Cheyanne liked it so much, she wanted to do more painting. I drew pictures using circles and she printed on top of them.

Cheyanne and I had so much fun making these funny faces. We used: Old magazines (cut out pictures of eyes, noses, hair, mouths and ears), scissors, flesh colored paint, paint brush and oval wooden shape ($.97 at Walmart). Cheyanne painted the wooden piece. Allow to dry. Cut out all the face pieces. Decorate the face, Cheyanne needed the glove because she was doing surgery.

Today we made horses. We used: rectangle boxes (tissue boxes and shoe boxes would probably work best), construction paper, yarn, scissors, markers. wiggly eyes and glue. Fold over an piece of construction paper and cut out a head, leave the top connected. Decorate the head with eyes, ears, mouth, nose, mane. Glue head in to the box. Poke a small hole in the back of the box and thread the yarn for a tail. Cut a long rectangle piece of paper for a blanket to lay over the horse. Decorate the blanket. If you cover the box it would make for a better looking horse, but we wanted a quick craft to do. Cheyanne's horse: Caity's horse: Colton's horse:

I love this project it is so easy and only takes a short amount of prep time. Cheyanne loves making the volcano erupt. We used: plastic plate, plastic cup, aluminium foil, tape, vinegar, baking soda and red food coloring. Tape the bottom of the cup to the center of the plate. Cover with aluminium foil. Cut a hole in the center of the foil and push the edges down in the cup. Spoon in some baking soda. Pour in the vinegar. Watch it erupt.
