Activities for "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie"

Image
In my preschool classes, we have been reading the book," If You Give A Mouse A Cookie." I have been feeling under the weather for the last week or so, that is why there is not step by step instructions. But I think most activities are self explanatory. First, we made mouse ears to wear. Then we made mouse puppets with white paper bags. This is a students mouse, that is why the eye is not in the normal place. We also painted triangles and decorated the triangles to be mice. Instead of triangles, you can turn the letter "M" into a mouse. You could also paint the letter"C" for cookie. Paint the "C" a light brown and add dark brown circles for chocolate chips. I also made some fake cookies out of construction paper. Hid them around the room and had the kids pretend they were mice trying to find the cookies. Tomorrow for snack, we are going to decorate sugar cookies.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Polar Bear, Polar Bear

Image
In my 2's class we are talking about bears We read, "Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear ?" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" For our polar bear projects we glued cotton balls on to a polar bear coloring sheet. And did a great project by DLTK, a polar bear made from circles. For "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," the kids painted the letter "B" and glued on shaped to turn it in to a bear.

"A" for Apple Tree

Image
I know everyone has done "A" for apple, but apple printing is so much fun. We used: construction paper, an apple, red paint, glue, scissors and a knife. I cut out the letter "A" from green construction paper. Cheyanne printed with half of an apple. I cut out a truck and Cheyanne glued it to the "A". Of course we had to keep printing with the apple.

"W" for Wagon

I have survived my first two days of preschool. I am so excited I have a great Toddlers and a great 2's class. We are going to have a fun school year. Now I have started school again, I hope to get back to a routine and hopefully more blogging. Today at home we made "W" for wagon. We used construction paper, scissors, a marker and a glue stick. I cut out a "w", 2 wheels and a wagon handle. Cheyanne glued them on to the paper.

"Q" for Quilt

"Q" for Qulit. We used construction paper, marker, fabric squares and glue. Cut fabric squares to fit in the "Q". And glue on the squares. "Q" for quilt.

"F" for Flower

We did another letter craft today. Today's letter was F for flower. ( Sorry about the pictures, my camera is acting funny) We used: construction paper, glue, artificial flowers, craft sticks and craft glue. Draw the letter "F" and glue on the flowers. It makes for a very pretty picture.

"M" for Marshmallow Painting

Image
Today we finally did a craft. This was a fun project for Cheyanne to do, painting with marshmallows. We used marshmallows, paint, paper and a marker. Draw a "M" and fill it in with marshmallow prints. Cheyanne liked it so much, she wanted to do more painting. I drew pictures using circles and she printed on top of them.

The Letter "B", and the Letter "J" and Shaving Cream

I do not think things could get much better for a 3 years old. Cheyanne had a morning of chocolate milk, jelly beans and shaving cream. This has been a great morning. First we started off with the letter "B". It was suppose to be Brown Bubbles on B, but the bubbles did not show up to well. Although Cheyanne had fun blowing the bubbles. We used: Construction paper, straw, glue and chocolate milk. Cheyanne blew bubble and put the "B" on top of them. Allow to dry. Drink extra chocolate milk. Glue "B's" on paper. Next we worked on the letter "J". We used: construction paper, scissors, jellybeans and glue. Cut out the letter "J" and glue on jellybeans. Yesterday in my preschool class we had a sensory table with shaving cream, Cheyanne had so wished she had got to play in it. So I told her we could do it at home. I spayed the shaving cream on the counter and let her play. She had a blast, plus I might get some clean counters out of it (a...
