Fire Chief Hat

Image
This is our last Fire Safety project. Tomorrow a fireman and fire truck are coming to our school to talk about fire safety. I thought it would be cute if the kids wore fire hats. This project is a little hard to explain in word, so I hope the pictures help. We used: Large red construction paper, scissors, pencil, stapler, marker and stickers (stars and flags). I cut out the hat. First cut out a large oval. For the inside cut out a half oval, leaving the bottom attached. Cut crescent shapes on the side (this is going to be the circle that fits on the head). Then cut a 2 to 3 in thick strip the width of the paper. Decorate the hat. Now take the strip and staple it to the top of the hat (Where it says Fire Chief), then staple the bottom of the strip to the back of the inside circle.

Fire Jello

Image
I love any project that involves food, especially when that food has whipped cream on it. The Jello is suppose to be fire, and the whipped cream is the fire hose to put out the fire. We used: Jello (red, orange, and yellow - fire colors), and whipped cream . The girls made the Jellos. It was suppose to be Jello jigglers but the Jello did not turn out firm enough. We combined the 3 Jellos in a bowl to look like fire. Cheyanne used whipped cream as the fire hose to put out the fire.

Smoke Detector Craft

Here is a simple craft to go along with Fire Safety Week that can be done at school or at home. Cheyanne and I first looked at our smoke detector and discussed what it does and what to do if she hears it go off. Then we made the smoke detector. We used: 2 small paper plate, stapler, scissors, green and white craft foam (or construction paper), glue and a pencil. Cheyanne stapled the 2 plates together with the tops facing each other. Cheyanne glued on the green and white circles for the light and button on the detector. She also drew on the lines that are on our smoke detector.

Fire Safety Dalmation

A teacher at my school did this in her class today and I thought it was so adorable. We used: White Styrofoam cup, black and red paper, wiggly eyes, glue, hole punch, marker and scissors. Cheyanne punched holes in the black paper. I cut out the ears, tongue, nose and tail. Of course you could draw any of the face with a marker. Cheyanne glued on all the pieces.

Preschool Fire Safety Craft

Here is a simple craft preschooler can do for fire safety week. We used: A large piece of white paper, tissue paper (red, orange and yellow cut into small pieces), scissors and glue. Cut the white paper into a fire shape. Glue on the tissue paper. Then ask the child to tell you something they learned about fires. Cheyanne said," Fireman put out fires."
