Hand Print Peppermint Candy

Image
I just love this craft, so I thought I would re-post it. This is such a cute craft, Cheyanne loved making it because she got to use the salad spinner. We used: Salad Spinner, 3 paper plates, red and/or green paint, glue, scissors, and poem. Optional: ribbon and peppermint oil. You can add the oil to the paint to make it smell like a peppermint. Cut the paper plate to fit in the salad spinner. Place the plate in the salad spinner and drop a few drops of paint on the plate. Now spin. On the other to plates, make hand prints on each plate. Cut the hand prints into rounded triangle shapes. Glue the poem to the center of the peppermint. Poem: I think you're sweet as candy. Your love always makes me smile. Please keep these hands to remind you, of when I was a sweet child. Glue the hand prints to the side of the pound plate. Add a ribbon to the back for a hanger. On the green one I added ribbons to the side.

Paper Plate Jellyfish

Image
We made these paper plate jellyfish at preschool. We used: paper plates, paint, glitter, streamers and glue. Paint the plate and sprinkle on the glitter while the paint is still wet. Allow to dry. Then glue streamer strips to the under side of the plate. Eye are optional, I guess jellyfish do not even have eyes.

Super Easy Paper Plate Fishies

Image
The theme in my preschool class this week is the ocean. My toddlers made these great fish. It is a perfect project for the little ones. There are so many ways that this fish can be decorated such as tissue paper, glitter, or paint with bubble wrap. My kids just painted it with water colors. Then I cut out the triangle for the mouth and stapled it on for the tail and the kids glued on the eye. The kids did a job.

Paper Plate Easter Basket

Image
This is an Easter Basket that only takes a few materials. My Eggs look black but up close they have a lot of color. We used: Paper plate with a half circle cut out the one side of the middle, Easter grass and eggs. I used scratch off eggs, but you could also use construction paper cut into egg shapes. Glue on the eggs and Easter grass. These are done by my 2 year old class.

Finger Painted Turkeys

Image
This is a fun project, even for older kids. When was the last time one of your older kids finger painted? It is fun to watch them, My 8 year old just dotted it at first. I had to tell her it was o.k. to spear it all around and get messy. Cheyanne and Caity loved finger painting the feathers. We used: Paper plates or white paper, different colored paints, scissors, brown, yellow and red construction paper, and wiggly eyes. Finger paint the plate or paper. Allow time to dry or put in microwave at 25 second intervals until dry. If using paper, cut out feather shapes. Glue the feathers on another sheet of paper in a half circle pattern. Glue on head and decorate the face.

P.J. Day and Bear Masks

Today in the 3 year old class, we had pajama day. Our craft to go along with that was Teddy Bear masks. Use any colored paper plate (Teddy Bears can be any color). We also used construction paper, wiggly eyes, pom-poms, scissors and glue. The kids were so proud of their masks. We read Teddy Bear,Teddy Bear while the kids held their masks. They loved that too.

Summer Pond- Frog, Frog's Life Cycle and Lily- Part IV

Image
Here is our final project in our Summer Pond. Colton made a frog, the frog's life cycle and a lily flower. Lily-We used construction paper, scissors and coffee filter . Frog- Paper plate, green paint, stapler, glue, construction paper and wiggly eyes. Life Cycle- Worksheet Colton colored the life cycle and and cut it out. He glued it to green construction paper cut like a lily pad. To make the lily flower, keep folding the coffee filter in half until it is about 1/2 inch wide. Cut a triangle tip on the end. Then open up. To make the frog: 1. Paint paper plate green. Allow to dry. 2. Cut out tongue and legs. 3. Fold late in half and staple around edge. I added the tongue while stapling. 4. Glue on legs and eyes.

Summer Pond- Turtle- Part III

Image
Here is the third part of Colton's Summer Pond. Colton made a turtle. What I like most about this project is , that it can be done on so many ways, and it still comes out great. We went the simple route and used Markers, small paper plate, construction paper, scissors, glue and wiggly eyes. For the shell, you could also paint it, or use small pieces of brown and green paper glue on to the plate. Colton put a beak like thing on the mouth to make it a snapping turtle.
