Crickets are Good Omens

Image
Since crickets are considered good omens in many countries, I thought we would make some to help bring us some good luck for the New Year !!!! Plus they are easy to make, cute and the kids like playing with them. We used: Doll clothespin (round head), paint (green or yellow), chenille stems (green), small wiggly eyes, paint brushes and glue. First, paint the clothespin and allow time to dry. Place a small amount of glue on the chenille stem, insert it into the clothespin split, and bend it into legs. Repeat making 2 more sets of legs. Glue on eyes.

Snowman Soup

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Now January is here we start doing snowmen projects. I love snowmen!! Here is a cute gift we received from our neighbor, I thought I would share it. It is " Snowman Soup". I think it is a cute gift to give if you have a lot of children to give to. You need a little resealable gift bag, a pack of cocoa, 1 large candy cane, 3 or 4 Hersey Kisses, 6 or 7 small marshmallows and the snowman soup instructions (below). It is an adorable idea that is yummy too!!!! Here is also the snowman poop version.

Santa Picture Craft

Image
Cheyanne turned Cody into Santa Claus. This is a fun and easy craft. We used: A picture, cotton balls, scissors, glue, construction paper and a marker. Cut out the face from the picture. And cut out a hat and jacket. Draw on buttons. Add cotton balls to decorate. I need to thank Brooks for the idea!!!!!

Happy Birthday Jesus!!!

Image
Every year we made Birthday Cards to Jesus. I hope this is a reminder to the kids, what Christmas is really is about. We use: Construction paper, old Christmas cards, scissors and glue. We cut out the pictures and glue them on to the paper to make a card. It is a simple craft, that is a reminder of what Christmas is really about.

Paper Cup Angels

Image
Cheyanne and I made these paper cup angels. We used: Paper cup and/or Dixie cup, craft glue, muffin cups, 1 large circle and 2 small circles from foam or paper for the face and hands, gold chenille stem, markers, heart shape gem or paper, and something for hair. I do not know what it is called, that I used for hair. Draw the face and fingers on the circles. Glue on hair and halo to the head. Glue head and hands to the cup. Fold the muffin cups in half and glue on to the back of the cup. Glue the heart in between the hands.

Easy Garland

Image
Today, the girls and I strung some colorful garland. We used: Yarn, Fruit Circle Cereal, and Chenille stem. I tied the yarn to a piece of chenille stem to use as a needle. The girls and I threaded and snacked. I think it was a perfect addition to our homemade tree.

Jingle Bell Painting

Image
We decorated Candy Cane coloring sheets by painting with Jingle Bells. We used: Candy cane coloring sheets, round bells, red paint, box and glitter. Place the coloring sheet in the box. Cover the bells in red paint in a separate container. Place the bells in the box and roll around. While paint is still wet sprinkle on glitter.

Muffin Cup Christmas Wreath

Image
I super love this Christmas craft, it is so easy but turns out so pretty. We used: A paper plate with the center cut out, 6 Christmas muffin cups pushed in so the decoration can be seen more clearly, glue and a bow. If you wanted to paint the paper plate green first, that would be good also. Glue on the muffin cups around the plate. Glue on or poke a hole to add the bow.
