Ramblings of a Crazy Woman

I have been taking it easy this Christmas vacation and have not been doing any crafts or blogging. I am still recovering from Christmas. We had a great Christmas but I am ready for some down time. We did this simple but pretty fireworks craft last year. All you need is black paper, glue and different colored glitter. Make the glue lines on the paper and sprinkle on the glitter. Allow to dry. It turns out really pretty, a lot better than the picture shows. Here are some other crafts New Year projects from last year.

Here is a simple last minute craft to make with the kids over the Christmas break. You will need: 15 large craft sticks, green paint, brush, craft glue, beads and ribbon or bow. Paint the craft sticks and allow to dry. Glue 5 sticks together in the shape of a pentagon. Glue another pentagon together and glue in on top, slightly tilted to the left. Make a third pentagon, and glue in on top of the other 2, slightly tilted. Wrap on ribbon and glue on bow. Glue on beads to look like berries. Glue on a hanger.

I have been out of commission for a few days because I've had that stomach virus that has been going around. I hope to be back to normal by tomorrow. My friend Jamie emailed this to me, and I thought it was funny. So I thought I would share it with you because who doesn't need a laugh ? Dear Santa, I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor and sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years. Here are my Christmas wishes: I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breez...

This craft was a group effort for sure. Cody made Santa's sled and the girls and I made the reindeer and Colton made the water bottle Santa. The reindeer are just toilet paper rolls painted brown. Then, I cut out the legs. Next, we glued on the eyes, nose, tail and antlers (Christmas tree pieces). Santa's sled is just a cereal box cut on an angle. Then Cody painted it red. The black part of the sled is cut out poster board and glued on. I know this is an odd craft but I really do like it. If nothing else, it is different.

Cheyanne and I made this Christmas tree today. I think it turned out really good. We used: construction paper, pine tree pieces, scissors, glue, pom-poms and old Christmas cards. Cut out a Christmas tree shape and a star. Glue on the Christmas tree shape as a guide to follow. Glue on tree pieces. Glue on the star. Glue on the pom-poms for ornaments. We also cut out pictures from old Christmas cards and glue them on to the picture.

This is such an easy and cute Rudolf craft. I just love it !! You will need: Construction paper, paint, glitter or pom-pom, glue, scissors and wiggly eyes (or you can draw the eyes). Cut a circle for the nose and then glitter it. Make the hand prints for the antlers and cut out. Fold over the brown paper and cut into a triangle. Glue on the eyes, nose and antlers.

Colton and I made these Santa's from water bottles. We used: Water bottle, red crepe paper, electrical tape, glue, cotton balls, scissors, small pom-pom and a red sock. Fill the bottle with crepe paper. Wrap the electrical tape around the bottle for a belt. Glue on eyes, beard and nose. Glue on the cotton balls for the rim of the hat. I glued the cotton balls on to the bottle and not on the sock so that we would not ruin the sock. Socks are too expensive. Put on the sock for the hat. HO ! HO ! HO ! Merry Christmas !!!!!!
