We used: Water, food coloring, plastic wrap, aluminum foil and tooth picks for the ice cube boats.
For the larger and better boat we used: Bottom of a 2 quart carton (such as O.J.), water, food coloring, aluminum foil, cookie sticks or Popsicle sticks.
Cover container with aluminum foil and poke stick or Popsicle stick through the foil.
Freeze until solid.
Pull out of container and add sail made from aluminium foil cut into triangles wrapped around the stick.

I love this idea. We make "icebergs". I fill a small container with water and put a few little toys in it and freeze it. My kids love to take them in the bathtub and wait for the toys to surface!
You are so clever. I love this idea!

I love this idea! My 5 year old is sure to love it as well. Thanks!
We'll have to try this in our sand and water table. It's always fun to have rainbow colored sand when you're all done!!
Overall, I just want to tell you what an awesome blog you have! Everything is simple, yet so cute & creative. Thank you for giving me gobs of great boredom-busting summer activities.
