I found this great bird craft from Family Fun. My kids love paper air planes, so I thought this would put a different spin on that idea. We used: Paper plate, 2 plastic spoons, masking tape, rubber band, pebble and permanent markers. Cut the plate in half and then cut 1 half of the plate in thirds. Tape 1 1/3 piece to the paper plate for the tail. Place the pebble between the bowl part of the spoons. Rubber band the spoons together. Tape the spoons to the underside of the bird. Decorate the face. Now go fly.

Cheyanne and I had a lot of fun making and playing with these boats. I think the ice cube boats are cute but they melted really, really fast. I would recommend making the bigger boats. We used: Water, food coloring, plastic wrap, aluminum foil and tooth picks for the ice cube boats. For the larger and better boat we used: Bottom of a 2 quart carton (such as O.J.), water, food coloring, aluminum foil, cookie sticks or Popsicle sticks. Poor water in container, add food coloring and stir. Cover container with aluminum foil and poke stick or Popsicle stick through the foil. Freeze until solid. Pull out of container and add sail made from aluminium foil cut into triangles wrapped around the stick. Now have fun.

We are having a music assembly at my preschool this month. My kids are going to sing an animal song . Here are the masks I made to go along with the song. Lamb: Dog: Frog: Cat: Pig Lion Cow: Bear: Bird:

I just loved how this craft turned out. I think it is so cute and can be made in so many different ways. I think this is a perfect gift a child can make for Mother's Day! We used: 1 or 2 Slim Jewel cases (CD cases), ribbon, scissors, craft glue, 4x6 picture,packaging tape and anything to decorate the frames with such as craft flowers, buttons, etc. 1. Cut 4 pieces of ribbon 5 inches long. Dab glue in each corner on the inside of the lid . (not where the disc goes) Slide the ribbon under the tabs in the case. You could also place the ribbon on the outside for a different look. You could finish here and make a standing picture frame. We decorated ours with flowers. Here is one with button. I also think finger prints would look cute too. To make hanging picture frame decorate the second jewel case. Then cut 2 pieces of ribbon and tape evenly spaced between the 2 cases. Then cut a third piece of ribbon for the hanger and tape on the top jewel case.

I hope everyone had a great week, it has been busy around here. But finally Spring has arrived, so we have been spending more time outside !!! Thanks to all that have linked in the previous weeks, it has been so much fun seeing what projects everyone is doing with their kids.

I thought this would be a great project for Cheyanne and I to talk about foods that were good for us and not good for us. We discussed that tasting good, is not the same as being good for us. We used: Construction paper, grocery store sales paper, scissors, markers and glue. We cut out pictures of different kinds of foods. On the construction paper I wrote healthy foods on one side and unhealthy foods on the other. Cheyanne glued the foods in the right categories.

Today, I was making a recipe with frozen orange juice. I had some left over and I remembered a recipe I made when I was a child. Orange Julius ! I thought Cheyanne would love it, and I was right. It is a great kid recipe that is delicious. ORANGE JULIUS 1/4 cup sugar 6 oz orange juice, frozen concentrate 1 cup milk 1 cup water 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 10 ice cubes In a blender, combine all ingredients; blend for one half minute or until ice cubes are crushed. Serving Size: 4

This is part 2 to the Cinco de Mayo crafts. Even if Cinco de Mayo is not a major holiday, even in Mexico, it is a fun way to teach your child about the Mexican culture. Mexican Flag: We made a Mexican flag out of construction paper, of course painting one would be fun too. The flag colors represent things that are important to the Mexican culture. Green- the hope for a better culture White- the purity of the Catholic faith Red- all the blood people shed for their independence. Mexican Blanket: I cut a piece of poster board in 4 rectangles. Drew lines on the poster board with a pencil for Cheyanne to follow. Cheyanne painted it in bright colors. Allow to dry. Punched hole on the sides. Cheyanne threaded beads on chenille stems. I wrapped the beaded chenille stems through the holes. Maracas: Cheyanne painted 2 Styrofoam bowls with brightly colored paints. Allow to dry. Fill the 1 bowl with some dried beans or rice.
