Thank you very much for publishing this craft. Today early in the morning our little daughter (22 mo) and I were listening to the birds singing outside and discussing where they live. And when I saw the craft in your blog I understood that it is right for us! And we made the bird! Without the feathers but with parts of the cones and some other natural materials for the nest.
By the way, would Cheyanne like to take part in the Contest devoted to Hummingbirds we have announced in our blog? There will be three main prizes and some little prizes for all the participants of the Contest. You can learn the details here:
I love this project it is so easy and only takes a short amount of prep time. Cheyanne loves making the volcano erupt. We used: plastic plate, plastic cup, aluminium foil, tape, vinegar, baking soda and red food coloring. Tape the bottom of the cup to the center of the plate. Cover with aluminium foil. Cut a hole in the center of the foil and push the edges down in the cup. Spoon in some baking soda. Pour in the vinegar. Watch it erupt.

Have the kids paint the toilet paper roll green. OR you can have them color it with a marker OR just wrap it in green construction paper and glue it. While the paint is drying, I get all the pieces set up to glue on. I used foam sheets to cut out legs but construction paper will work too. For the nose, I cut a triangle out of craft ...
